Christa grew up in the Boland and completed her undergraduate medical training at Stellenbosch University. She worked as a medical officer in ophthalmology in the United Kingdom, Polokwane and Worcester before starting her formal specialist training at Tygerberg Hospital & Stellenbosch University in 2007. She qualified as an ophthalmologist in 2010 and did outreach work to the Northern Cape for a couple of years. She joined the practice in 2012 and while Christa is also an exceptional general ophthalmologist, she is particularly interested and skilled in paediatric ophthalmology, adult & paediatric strabismus, and simple oculoplastic surgery.
