Robyn is originally from the Eastern Cape and completed her undergraduate medical training at Stellenbosch University before returning there for her internship and community service. She started her journey into ophthalmology in East London before returning to Tygerberg Hospital & Stellenbosch University for her specialist ophthalmology training in 2008. After her training she completed a one-year clinical fellowship in medical and surgical conditions of the retina at Stellenbosch University in 2012. Thereafter she was the recipient of a Discovery Foundation Academic Fellowship Award, allowing her to conduct and participate in research and obtain a further Masters degree in Medicine. She worked as a full-time specialist ophthalmologist, and head of the retina unit, at Tygerberg Hospital and a lecturer at Stellenbosch University from 2013 until 2019. She joined the practice in June 2019 when Dr Japie Grove relocated his practice to Hermanus. Robyn sees general ophthalmological conditions including cataract and glaucoma but is particularly interested and skilled in medical and surgical conditions of the retina.
